Hudson on Hudson
The Beautiful Hudson
The Hudson River, an estuary made up of fresh and sea water - "brackish." Tides move in and out creating a constant change affecting the landscape of colors and shapes. It is remarkable to watch a summer thunderstorm move down the river. Dark skies loom and one can see streaks of rains reach down to the surface of the water like a massive hand....lightning cracks the sky in half and a 4th of July thunder follows. The storm moves through gradually and heads south under the Tappan Zee Bridge. As the storm breaks, a rainbow can be seen in place of the lighting bolt, as if to counter the dramatic violence.
